Twice a month Jim Stringer and the AM Band host a jam session at the Waterloo. The food is good, but the music is even better!! You never know who will show up but you always know it’s going to be a good time!!
Jim Grabowske emailed that not only was he playing with Bobby Leuders at the S. Austin Senior Center, but it was going to be kind of a “Bob Wills Night”.
As it turns out, two members of Bob Wills’ Playboys band and his niece Dayna were going to be there and probably entertain.
Now just how could I turn that down? My favorite steel player and celebrities? I couldn’t!! And, I’m glad I didn’t!!
Ms Dayna Wills….not only beautiful, but has an amazing voice.
I love how T always seems so relaxed……or is that asleep? 🙂
Johnny Cuviello……Bob Wills’ “Little Drummer Boy”……still has it at 92 (or is it 93) years old?
Skeeter Elkins played with Bob Wills and the Playboys. I love the way T is engrossed in Skeeter’s playing. Oh yeah……Skeeter’s the “baby” of the bunch. After all, he’s only 84!
Rod Moag was listening to every note
“Skinny” Don Keeling helped keep the beat on bass.
And, here’s our Jimmy on steel and Ray Tessmer on lead guitar
Skeeter has that same “calm” when he’s playing that T has……wonder if it comes from playing piano?
We just love Rod. And, he honored us by stepping up the the mic for a few songs.
Wonder if it’s possible to total all the years of experience in this picture?
Johnny might be in his 90’s, but he still has a boyish look about him!
T……I love that look. Just what were you thinking of getting into next? 🙂
Johnny Cuviello and our own Sam Bentley
T Jarrod Bonta, Dayna Wills, and Skeeter Elkins
Jimmy Grabowske and Skeeter visiting
How lucky can I be? There are 6 people in this picture and every one of them a musician. (L to R: Sam Bentley, Ken Simpson, Jim Grabowske, Bobby Leuders, Skeeter Elkins, and Johnny Cuviello)
This musical history these three men have seen & been a part of is unbelievable!
Marty, Ken, Johnny, Rod, and Sam
Yeah……Ken stole my camera and made sure I was in a picture. Dern camera may never work again. 🙂
Now, when you see these three together, they’re probably up to no good!! It really was a great evening!
