It was another fun night when Jim Stringer and his AM Band took to the stage at Giddy Ups. That’s always to be expected, but there was added “fun” this time. First was special guest, Walt Lewis. We hadn’t heard Walt before although he’s no stranger to the Austin music scene…just hasn’t been playing much lately. Then, there were some special fans in the audience. There were two hearing impaired ladies. Their friends stood in front of the band and signed the songs to them. THAT was fun and interesting. Sweet sweet people! You just never know who will show up or what will happen when Jim and the guys play! 🙂
There are only so many words to describe the fun everyone has when Jim and the guys take to the stage. So, we’ve given up trying to find new ones. 🙂 Whether it’s “Bobby Time, Bobby Time, Bobby Time” (a minimum of three songs made popular by someone named Bobby), music trivia, guests, original songs or covers, stories, or just plain good music, Jim and the guys entertain everyone, every time. They must do it for the love of what they’re doing because they give a full out show whether they’re playing to 10 or 10,000.
Jim and the guys are scheduled to play at Giddy Ups the first and third Thursdays through May of this year. That means we get to see one of our favorite bands close to home for a while. Of course, if we can get everyone to start showing up, they might do this longer. After all, Jim’s Country Jam will be celebrating it’s third year at Waterloo Icehouse next month and that started with an “experiment”. The Thursday shows are early shows (7pm to 10pm) so we don’t have the excuse of having to work the next day. 🙂 Another reason to be there is that you never know who will be in the audience that Jim might get to join him and the band on stage. Tonight it was Jim Lutz, Jason Arnold, and Beth Chrisman. Sure hope we can all help support this live music!
Thought you might enjoy this “little” instrumental. Well, Jim and the guys make it seem easy, but maybe not for the average person. 🙂
