On Tuesday nights we’d been going to River Road Ice House in New Braunfels for Jason Allen’s acoustic show. This night, we got all the way down there to find out they weren’t having it this week. Well…we were ready to go somewhere! We’d heard about the Ace In the Hole band playing every Tuesday at Nephew’s and decided to check it out.
This was our first night at the famous (infamous?) Tuesday Country Night. The Ace In the Hole band was touring with their real boss…..George Strait…..so there were some really talented musicians filling in. People like Steve Anderson (pedal steel, lead, vocals), Dale Burch (lead, vocals), and John Michael Whitby (keyboard) along with the rest of the regulars kept us VERY entertained. Wes Hayden even stopped in and treated us to a couple of Merle Haggard songs.
At the end of the evening, they did a rockin’ version of Sweet Home Alabama that had everyone on the floor….and on stage. The kids loved it….the band love it….we loved it! This was the night we changed our Tuesday night allegiance from RRIH to Nephews!!
